Jai Jallikattu!
Have been thinking of writing on this issue, finally here is my take on it.
Jallilattu: A traditional Tamil bull taming sport where several bulls are made to run and people have to stop them by catching their humps. Which is usually played in January month.
Problem: Supreme court banned this sport because animals suffer here which is a violation of law.
Tamil's view: They say it was traditional and has thousands of years history. They want to preserve their culture so they gathered in marina beach and started protesting against the ban on jallikattu.
My take:
- Any public or private mass event must have a purpose and it must benefit all parties involving in it.
- What is the purpose of bull taming or in my away torturing bulls? They don't because they think it's their culture so they have to follow it no matter what happens.
- Is it at least benefitting both parties?
- Bulls: They are tortured and frightened by people. When people eat beef whole nation fought against it. Now they are torturing bulls which even more cruel than just killing. Bulls are both physically and mentally suffered and there is nothing positive to get out of it.
- Humans: People die and injure a lot still whole nation thinks Tamils are doing great by fighting for culture. In reality, those who involve in sport are dumb they just follow masses and do whatever mass says.
- Now the fucking supporters: Those Tamils dumbs are fighting and it's their own issue. These fucking supporters made it big and now those dumbs think they are doing right.
- Why don't these fucking supporters participate in the sport instead of just offering their support?
- When these fucking supporters involve they will get to know what happens there.
Finally, Supreme Court let these morons do whatever they want. They don't want it to get more attention so just left it for them. Ultimately few people are gonna die and bulls are suffered. Which is confined to a particular place so court just left the matter.
Now people think Tamils won fighting for their culture so we all have to just protest to get things done.
Just go back to few months where TN and Karnataka were fighting for Kaveri water. Did Supreme Court agree for either of the parties' demands? They did what was justice. They never backed down even though there were riots, bundhs and vandalism everywhere.
Supreme Court didn't back down because they stood for justice which will help several people in TN in this case.
Whereas banning jallikattu is not going to benefit other parties (outsiders). Even if it is allowed very few people are suffered and forget about animals in India.
Verdict: Supreme court backed down in jallikattu issue not because Tamils protested or something else; they don't want to make it a big deal and don't want it to get more attention.
